My name is David Freeman and my interest in games started at a very young age. My family would regularly play Sorry, Trivial Pursuit, Risk, and other table top games together and when I discovered Dungeons and Dragons in elementary school I was fascinated. I had been reading Tolkein (due to a screening of the excellent and psychedelic animated Hobbit movie at my school) and the idea of a game that would allow me to simulate and experience adventures in a fantastical world hooked me immediately.
So, I happily played RPG's and board games with my friends and family through middle school until I encountered Magic: The Gathering in high school. The experience of Magic was another transformative moment for me. Building your spell book and going around challenging rival wizards to battle was mind blowing and amazing.
The power of these experiences are why I got involved with table top game design and development. If the projects I work on can add to the awesome times that I have had and carry them forward into the future for others then mission accomplished!
After college I took an internship with a company that made collectible card games called Sabertooth Games. I worked in organized play there to begin with and moved into design and development after having been heavily involved in play testing and I have been doing it ever since.
In the 15 years that I have been working professionally in the industry I have worked on licensed and new intellectual property, collectible card games, board games, stand alone card games, and miniature war games.
If you are already familiar with my work or found me because you have been looking around the internet for game design content, welcome to my website! This is the place where I ramble about games and designing them.
